THANKSGIVING
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1ST THESSALONIANS 5 VERSE 18
Thanksgiving is the act of appreciating someone for the good things the person has done. The Bible encourages us to always give thanks unto the LORD God for the good things He keeps doing in our lives. Sometimes, one wonders if it is always necessary to give thanks to God, especially when one finds himself/herself in a situation that seems not to be favourable enough. However, the Bible says we are to always praise and worship God for His goodness and mercy.
The rental payment we pay to the Most High God for our existence on Earth is Thanksgiving. We owe Him our existence on Earth. Without His permission, none of us can be alive not to talk of try to survive. He keeps us every day and we are expected to always give Him thanks for this. He gives us free sunlight, breath, and so on. So, whatever situation we find ourselves, let us learn to always praise God. Let us know that He must have allowed anything we are facing. Job faced a lot as a child of God but He kept appreciating his maker. He knew God was aware of his situation and He never used negative words against our maker. He appreciated the fact that God Almighty was in control of his situation and he never blamed God for his predicaments. He said in Job Chapter 19 verse 25 " For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth".
In lovely situations as well, we are supposed to give Him thanks. He is the one that has given us the power to make wealth. Our wisdom, diligence and intelligence alone will not be enough without the blessings of the LORD that maketh rich without adding sorrow. Deuteronomy Chapter 8 verse 18 says " But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that hath giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He aware unto thy fathers, as it is this day".
Brethren, as you go into the new year, make up your mind to thank God more than before. He deserves it and takes pleasure in the praises of His children. He is our God, our Father and our Maker. He deserves our praise and thanksgiving always. In Acts Chapter 16 verse 25, Paul and Silas still prayed and sang praises to God despite being imprisoned wrongly. God was moved and He caused an earthquake to occur that shook off their bands and set them free. When we praise God, He will make our problems to disappear. He takes over and every mountain in our lives will melt away. May we receive the grace to praise God and thank Him at all times and in any situation.
Finally brethren, make up your mind to thank God for the rest of your life. He deserves it. This is what we will be doing when we get to heaven so the earlier we get used to it, the better for us. I pray that God will receive our thanksgiving always and count us worthy to praise Him in His Kingdom in Jesus name 🙏
Amen.
God bless you and have an excellent Year 2022.
