DIVINE OVERFLOW

JOEL CHAPTER 2 VERSE 24 - " The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil." 

God's divine purpose for us as His children is to enjoy a life of overflowing blessings. Once you get born again, you are automatically entitled to the benefits of sonship due to your adoption into the Family of God. All the benefits of God's children become yours automatically. All you need to do is to follow the rules of the Kingdom and you will see yourself enjoying the benefits of sonship. 

Throughout the scriptures, you can see testimonies of the miracles of overflowing blessings. From the miracle of the payment of the debt of the prophet's wife to the feeding of five thousand men and to the miracle of the catching of fish in Luke 5, you will see how God had been performing His miracle of overflowing blessings from time immemorial.  The Bible calls Abraham the Father of Faith. As a friend of God, He was prosperous. The Bible records that He was a great man. This shows that prosperity on its own does not draw one away from God but instead, it is the love of money that draws a man's soul from God. 

Thus, there is nothing bad in a child of God becoming highly prosperous as long as the prosperity does not draw his/her heart away from God. God's will for us is to prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers. 3rd John 1 vs 2 says "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."  Thus, a child of God must not see financial blessings as evil or sinful. He/she must see it as a gift of God and a benefit of sonship. Financial blessings should be appreciated, enjoyed and used for the benefits of God's kingdom and for humanity. 

There are steps that when taken as a child of God, guarantee God's blessings in one's life. When followed, we are assured of the divine overflowing blessings of God. They are however not magical steps but steps of faith that have proven to be sure ways of getting to the top as a child of God. I pray that as we consider these steps, the Holy Spirit of God will minister to us and teach us how to go about taking the steps in Jesus name. 

1. GIVING 

Luke 6 vs 38 says  "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Giving is a secret to receiving blessings. God has assured us of "running over" -(overflowing blessings) when we give to others. So, as children of God, we are expected to give to others especially those in need. We are to give to the widows, orphans, destitute and those that are needy generally. 

2. TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Malachi 3 vs 10 says " Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it."

God has assured us of open heavens (overflowing blessings) when we bring our tithes and offerings to His house. As children of God, we are expected to be obedient to our Father so as to receive His blessings. 

3.  PRAYER 

John 16 vs 24 says "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full"

Prayer is one sure way of receiving from our Father. He wants our joy to be full (to overflow) so He wants us to ask Him for anything that is needed for our joy to be full. This is one of the benefits of our salvation through Christ Jesus. As a believer, we are assured of getting anything we need to have joy here on earth as long as we ask Him according to His will. Therefore, everything needed to make life comfortable for us, for us to have joy and happiness in this life will be given to us as long as we can ask Him. 

4. DILIGENCE 

Proverbs 13 vs 4 says "The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich"

God wants us to work hard and work smart. He says the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. That means one of the major keys to financial prosperity is diligence. Proverbs 22 vs 29 says " Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men." For us to be great in life, we have to be diligent. We need diligence to stand before kings ( great people) and not mean (average) men.  As children of God, we must be ready to work hard and smart. We must not be lazy. We must take our jobs seriously and perform our tasks excellently in our various places of work. 

By God's grace, if you can follow the rules above, you are on your way to the top. You will get to that point of overflowing blessings by God's grace. We will not be beggars in life in the mighty name of Jesus. The Lord God shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. We will live in abundance here on earth and make it to God's kingdom in heaven. So shall it be for us in Jesus Christ name.
